Baldwin Goes on Rampage Against Berserkers
Sunday, May 26th, 2019
5 hits in a game has always been a magic number in baseball. Only a handful of players will do that. Get 5 hits in a game and you get your moment of glory, your fifteen minutes of fame -- you get your name in the record book. Win or lose, you get listed.

Alvin Baldwin got his name in the record book, but the Minnesota Berserkers picked up the win, topping the Montreal Bandits 9-7.

"Sure, I would have much preferred to win the game, but that's not how it came out. In baseball you win some, lose some and some get rained out," the Montreal second baseman expressed his feelings during the postgame press conference.

He certainly did his part today, pounding out hit after hit.

Later in the clubhouse Baldwin spoke further about his big game. "To hit the ball consistently well, you have to relax. I was relaxed for the first four hits, but I must admit, I got too much adrenaline going when I realized that this was a special once-in-a-lifetime day. On the last hit, I was ready to swing at anything close, I was that excited. That's why my third base coach called time and told me, 'Calm down and wait for a good pitch.' That got me back on track and I nailed the first one in the strike zone."

On his record-setting day Baldwin delivered 5 hits in 6 at-bats, a day that will be good scrapbook material.

Alvin Baldwin singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, tripled in the 6th, doubled in the 8th and singled in the 10th.

Baldwin is hitting .404 this season with no home runs, 15 RBIs and 38 runs scored. He has 78 hits in 193 at-bats.
