Bordes Hits for the Cycle
Thursday, August 23rd, 2018
Vincent Bordes of the Brooklyn Outlaws touched all the bases today at Blue Ivy Stadium in the 13-6 victory over Jacksonville, hitting for the cycle. He teed off on Jacks pitching for a single, double, triple and a home run. The feat is rare in baseball as it requires a game of no fewer than four hits and the unusual combination of a home run, which requires a batter to hit for some power -- and a triple, which requires a batter to have both speed on the basepaths -- and a favorable fall of the ball.

"The hardest part was the triple," confessed Bordes, "A lot has to go right for you to get a triple. It is real easy to get greedy trying to stretch a double and get thrown out. It's really hard to get a three-bagger." He finished his special day with 4 hits in 5 at-bats, 6 RBI, 2 runs scored and a place in the record book.

Vincent Bordes hit an RBI single in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Kenny Winston in the 5th, hit a two-run double in the 7th and hit a two-run triple in the 8th.

In 107 games this season Bordes has batted at a .278 pace with 105 hits and 8 home runs.
