Capitalists Closer Smith Injured

The Washington Capitalists will be without the services of Brian Smith for 11 months after an incident in a game against the So Cal Republic. The 26-year-old closer was injured while throwing a pitch and suffered a damaged elbow ligament.

To this point in the year Smith has put up a 1-2 won-lost mark, made 51 relief appearances and rung up 9 saves. He has a 5.40 ERA and has allowed 44 hits over his 48.1 innings of work, struck out 68 batters and walked 36.
