Ridin' High: Bergeron Hits for Cycle
Friday, April 21st, 2017
Mike Bergeron of the So Cal Republic had an amazing day at the plate today in a game against Montreal. Fans at Labatt Bleue Park were treated to a hitting spectacle as he hit for the cycle. Yes -- the cycle -- one of baseball's rarest feats and spectator treats. The So Cal left fielder hit them all! The single, double, triple, and home run came during his 5 at-bats as the Republic downed the Bandits 11-8.
"I would like to say it was skill, but I would be more inclined to say it was some luck, too. Triples are hard to come by." Bergeron finished the day with 4 in 5 tries and raised his batting average a few points. He also had 5 runs batted in and 2 runs scored.
Mike Bergeron doubled in the 1st, tripled in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, hit a two-run single in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Roosevelt Patterson in the 9th.
This season Bergeron is batting .342 with 25 hits, 7 home runs, 20 RBIs, .392 OBP and has scored 14 runs.
