Montreal, Washington Confirm Deal Monday, July 18th, 2016 It's all done except the paperwork. The Montreal Bandits and the Washington Capitalists have agreed to a trade that will send 30-year-old catcher Gene O'Reilly and 29-year-old second baseman Millard Shafer to Washington, while 22-year-old starting pitcher Kinnosuke Sato will be shipped to Montreal. A top front office executive with the Bandits described the trade talks as "quick and easy." "We're glad to get this deal done. We think it's something that helps our ball club and it didn't take too long at all to sort this one out," he said. In the 2016 season Shafer is hitting .345 with 4 home runs. |
