Republic Starting Pitcher Gutiérrez Injured Friday, July 8th, 2016 After the end of today's game between So Cal and San Diego, Gabriel Gutiérrez skipped the clubhouse and headed straight for the doctor's office. After he was removed from the game as a precaution after throwing a pitch, the Republic had their worst fears confirmed when it turned out to be more serious. The starting pitcher will miss at least 4 months with a ruptured finger tendon. Gutiérrez has made 19 starts so far this year and put up a 6-3 won-lost record with a 3.51 ERA. In 105 innings he has allowed 98 hits, walked 35 and struck out 62. |
