Welsh Hosts Charity Golf Tournament
Saturday, December 6th, 2014
Nottinghamshire catcher Victor Welsh has always been a fierce competitor. In recent years, this love of competition has helped him develop into an exceptional golfer. He has participated in - and even won - several charity golf tournaments. "I've managed to lower my handicap significantly just over the past few years," said Welsh with a smile. "I'm no pro, but I think I can hold my own out on the links."
Now, Welsh is putting his skills to the test as he hosts his very own tournament, the Victor Welsh Celebrity Pro-Am. Welsh was the first to tee off this morning, along with Nottinghamshire Outlaws center fielder, Juan Soto, and Outlaws manager, Diego Aguirre. "Victor has always had a charitable spirit. He did a great job getting this thing organized," said the Nottinghamshire skipper.
Proceeds from the tournament will benefit numerous local charities. "I'm grateful to everyone who helped me pull this off and to everyone who came out to watch," said Welsh. "We raised a lot of money for some very worthy causes today. Hopefully, we can do this again next year."
