Cecil Gibbons Hurt, Out of Action Friday, September 20th, 2013 The South Carolina Bombers were dealt a severe blow when Cecil Gibbons was hurt throwing a pitch recently in a game against the Maple Marauders. After the game, the team trainer reported Gibbons might have to spend a lengthy time on the disabled list. Today doctors confirmed it, ruling the 22-year-old starting pitcher out for the rest of the season with a bone spur in his elbow. They indicated it would take Gibbons at least 4 months to heal. This season-to-date, Gibbons has fashioned a 2-6 mark and 5.09 ERA in 63.2 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .299 against him and he has logged 50 strikeouts. |
