Matsushita Hitless, Stopped by Swallows Friday, May 5th, 2017 After 20 games, Motoyasu Matsushita had his hitting streak ended abruptly today by Tokyo Yakult at Ballpark of Yamagata College. The Giants left fielder failed to get a hit in 4 at-bats and his brief fling with fame has come to a halt. But Matsushita seemed to care less -- it didn't matter as Yomiuri took a 5-2 victory from the Swallows. Matsushita didn't dwell on the streak saying, "It was good while it lasted. If it had to end, I'm glad it ended with a victory." This season Matsushita is swinging the bat at a .333 pace. He has hit 17 home runs and scored 27 times, while driving in 47. His on-base percentage is .428 and he has played in 35 games. |
