Sakai Slaps 5 Hits Sunday, April 9th, 2017 Who needs batting practice? Yukinaga Sakai of Saitama Seibu apparently doesn't as he battered Hanshin with a 5-hit outburst in today's game to lead his club to a 12-9 win. He told the press after the game, "And I didn't even take BP today. I think I have been taking too many swings before game and decided to take a day off. Wow, this was really something... a 5 for 5 day... will my name be in the record books now?" Yukinaga Sakai singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and walked in the 9th. In the current season, Sakai has put up a .329 batting average with 28 hits, 4 home runs, 13 runs batted in and scored 14 runs. |
