Big Day for Ohara: Swats 5 Hits Wednesday, September 7th, 2016 What a day for Kimi Ohara of the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks! A 5-hit hitting spree! That doesn't happen every day! He ripped ORIX pitching apart at Sea Hawks Stadium and sparked the Hawks to a 21-5 victory. He wrote his name in the record books, finishing his special day 5 for 7. "I'm usually a first ball hitter," Ohara told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid that." Kimi Ohara singled in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, flied out in the 4th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 8th, doubled in the 9th and hit a two-run single in the 9th. In the 2016 season Ohara is hitting .275 with 24 home runs. |
