Kurota Suspended, Out 4 Games Tuesday, June 14th, 2016 Tokyo Yakult second baseman Tsuneari Kurota was ejected in the game between the Swallows and Dragons for letting loose a profanity-laced tirade against the home plate umpire after some calls didn't go the way he wanted. Kurota was just as incensed after the game. "These guys are a joke. How can people expect to take this game seriously when you have games like this?" Kurota said in the locker room after the game. Now Kurota must face the consequences of this actions. League officials released this brief statement to the media: "We are regretful that Kurota has taken this to the level that it has reached. The league will not tolerate this type of conduct. Due to his actions during and after the game, the league is suspending him for 4 games." In his stats this season, Kurota has posted a batting average of .225 with 16 hits in 71 at-bats, 3 home runs and 13 RBIs. He has also scored 15 runs, walked 10 times and compiled a .321 OBP. |
