Akimura Beaned During Batting Practice Sunday, April 19th, 2015 Chiba Lotte left fielder Kazunori Akimura was taken to a local hospital earlier this evening when he was struck in the temple by a wayward pitch during batting practice. Akimura, who managed to remain on his feet after the impact, complained of a headache and double-vision moments later. "He pretty well got his clock cleaned," said teammate Hisamitsu Suzuki, who witnessed the incident. A CAT-scan revealed no evidence of a concussion or other injuries and Akimura was cleared to return to practice. However, manager Dan Thibodeaux said Akimura would be held out of the lineup for the Marines next game as a precaution. |
