Naomi Ishii Nabs Prestigious Cy Young Award Saturday, October 25th, 2014 He's in the early phase of his career, but this past season Naomi Ishii performed like a veteran on the hill for the Hiroshima Toyo Carp and walked away with the Central League Cy Young Award in the process. The 21-year-old Carp star fashioned a 14-2 won-loss record in 2014 with a 3.39 ERA. In 132.2 innings of work and 21 starts, Ishii struck out 187 while giving up 101 hits and 46 walks. He held opposing batters to a .208 average. |
