Star of the Week Named in CL Monday, September 30th, 2013 Yukio Kouno is respected by most Tokyo Yakult Swallows fans for his no-frills style of play. The 23-year-old first baseman went about his business with vigor last week to grab the Central League Player of the Week honors. He compiled a .444 average (8-18) with 2 home runs, 7 RBIs and 7 runs scored. In his stats this season, Kouno has posted a batting average of .322 with 123 hits in 382 at-bats, 14 home runs and 69 RBIs. He has also scored 70 runs, walked 61 times and compiled a .429 OBP. |
