Great Day for McCarthy -- 5 Hits
Tuesday, March 28th, 2017
It doesn't happen very often, but it happened for Todd McCarthy -- a 5-hit day. He went on a rampage at Palisades Ballpark and paced the Tigers to a 11-5 win over the Oregon State Beavers.
After his dynamite batting performance the LSU right fielder told the press, "I just tried to get myself in a good count and have a good at-bat. That's all I can control." His philosophy paid some great dividends today. He slammed 5 hits in 6 tries and put his name in the record book.
Todd McCarthy hit a two-run double in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, grounded out in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 6th, singled in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Ramón González in the 9th.
In his stats this season, McCarthy has posted a batting average of .452 with 38 hits in 84 at-bats, 13 home runs and 32 RBIs. He has also scored 23 runs, walked 7 times and compiled a .505 OBP.
