Consecutive-Game Hit Streak Continues for Winters
Tuesday, March 14th, 2017
Mississippi State's 21-year-old left fielder Matt Winters has had a fine run at the plate over the last few weeks. His consecutive-game hitting streak has reached 25 games now. Today Winters extended the streak by going 2-5 against Cardinals pitching. The streak has brought him a degree of attention that he has tried to deflect. Winters always prefers to talk about his teammates' accomplishments rather than his own. After the Bulldogs 4-0 triumph over Stanford at Crowley College Grounds he downplayed his part in the victory. Matt Winters flied out in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and grounded out in the 8th.
This year Winters has batted at a .523 pace with 23 hits, no home runs, 9 RBIs and scored 8 times.
