Stevenson Tames Owls 8-3, 16 Ks
Tuesday, April 21st, 2015
It was a very special game for Mark Stevenson today at Red Wings Ballpark in Arizona. He had the perfect delivery. The good fastball. The nasty curve. The batters mumbling and muttering when they swung and missed. And when he needed a strikeout, he got it. In an unforgettable performance the 19-year-old Stevenson fanned 16 strikeouts Owls and sparked the Arizona Wildcats to a 8-3 victory over Rice.
His catcher commented, "I don't think I have seen him throw better. His location and command were really something."
In addition to his 16 strikeouts, Johnson allowed 5 hits and 1 walk in a superlative outing.
His manager added, "It's a manager's day off when you get pitching like that."
The Rice skipper had no comment that was printable in the newspaper.
This season Stevenson has worked 31 innings with 43 strikeouts en route to a 2-2 record and a 4.65 ERA.
