Abrams Batters LSU for 5 Hits Monday, April 6th, 2015 What a day for Jay Abrams of the Ole Miss Rebels! A 5-hit hitting spree! That doesn't happen every day! He ripped LSU pitching apart at Ballpark of Wrightsville College and sparked the Rebels to a 12-4 victory. He wrote his name in the record books, finishing his special day 5 for 5. "I'm usually a first ball hitter," Abrams told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid that." Jay Abrams singled in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Jason Davis in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and singled in the 8th. Abrams is presently batting .500 with 3 home runs, 11 runs scored and 11 RBIs. His OBP is .536. |
