Gamecocks Gil Ends Career Because of Injury

The injury that forced Adrián Gil to go on the disabled list is serious -- and the possibility that it's career-ending hasn't been ruled out according to his agent. Speaking to reporters in South Carolina today, Gil's agent told them, "It's a pretty serious injury. I guess there's always the possibility it's career-ending, but we're not sure. He's getting intensive treatment five days a week." The 20-year-old Gamecocks left fielder has been undergoing extensive rehabitation for a ruptured ulnar collateral ligament and hurt it again while working out last week. BNN contacted medical experts and were told that it is rare that a ballplayer can come back from such a bad injury.
