Bullpen Ace Wins Best BOL Pitcher
Wednesday, August 1st, 2018
Any time a rookie makes a splash on the scene, it's got to be great for his career potential. Just ask John Jacobs, who put together a stellar month out of the pen. The New Orleans Jedi Knights closer, 22, kept the opposition off balance all month as he held them to a .200 average and walked away with the Buck O'Neil League Pitcher of the Month award for July.
Jacobs posted a 1-0 mark and a 0.63 ERA in 14 relief appearances. In 14.1 innings, he had 11 saves, 19 strikeouts, and 4 walks.
This year Jacobs has 12 saves. In 17 relief appearances he has hurled 16.2 innings, fanned 20 and given up 7 walks with a 1-1 record. The New Orleans reliever has recorded a 1.08 ERA and allowed the opposition to hit .217 when he is in the game.
