Connor Goes 5-5 Friday, July 13th, 2018 It wasn't poetic justice. Mark Connor of the Panthers had a terrific 5-hit game today, really socking it to the Sanford Stingrays, but his team didn't win the game. In the clubhouse after the 6-4 loss, he moaned to the press, "Hey, I don't want to sound ungrateful, but something is missing here. When you have a great game you should win the game, too." And he definitely had an unforgettable day in the batter's box, ripping out 5 hits in 5 at-bats. The manager for the Panthers sympathized with his left fielder and told BNN reporters after the game, "Mark played a whale of a game, but sometimes individual brilliance is not enough to win... baseball is a team sport... it takes more than just one player to win a game." Mark Connor singled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Richard Jamison in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, doubled in the 7th and singled in the 9th. This season Connor has hit at a .267 clip with 7 RBIs, 1 home runs and 4 runs scored. |
