No Recovery For Stealers Kato, Setback Forces Him Out
Friday, October 20th, 2017
Doctors told Nobuhito Kato at the outset that his injury was potentially career-ending. As it happens, they were right. The Cherry Hill starting pitcher informed his team that he would have to give up baseball and retire. Kato's injury, a torn back muscle, was just too severe for him to continue his career as a player. The 17-year-old Kato told reporters he hopes to remain in baseball in some capacity in the Stealers organization.
Thus far this season, Kato has worked 101.1 innings with 67 strikeouts en route to a 4-11 record and a 5.60 ERA.
