Suspensions Handed Out for Bench-Clearing Brawl
Friday, April 14th, 2017
Yesterday at Stable Park Guillermo Luna and Naomi Takata got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Kingwood Knights and San Angelo Mustangs. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game.
Today the league office notified both ballclubs that Luna and Takata would be given 4-game suspensions for fighting.
So far this year Luna is batting .250 with 1 home run.
This season Takata has chalked up no saves, notched a 1-0 record with a 7.36 ERA, allowed 7 hits in his 7.1 innings of work, struck out 9 and walked 9. Opponents are hitting .259 against the San Angelo hurler.
