Merritt Blasts 3 into Bleachers Tuesday, June 21st, 2016 Some days you can't have it all. Tim Merritt discovered that when he cracked three homers at Road Warriors Field during today's game against the Dearborn Pioneers and lost. "I have mixed emotions about this game," he said. "It's great to hit three homers, but it's hard to be happy when you lose the game." The Westside third baseman went on to describe his big day in his postgame interview. "I got three balls to hit and nailed all three of them. The first was a hanging curve... the second was right down the middle... and the last one was a good pitch, but I guessed right and put the wood to it." He got his name in the league record book, but the Pioneers walked away with a 9-7 triumph. Merritt finished the day with 3-4 and 4 RBIs. Tim Merritt hit a solo-shot off Eric Bent in the 3rd, struck out in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Eric Bent in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Sotatsu Hayagawa in the 9th. On the season, Merritt is batting .242 with 4 home runs and 18 RBIs. He has played in 61 games. |
