Alexander Cartwright League Announces #1 Player Monday, September 24th, 2018 No single hit brought Carl Brock Player of the Week honors -- the Silicon Valley Hackers right fielder corralled the award with a consistent approach in every at-bat. "Hitting is all about discipline," said Brock. "When you lose focus, start to lunge at the ball and swing too agressively... swinging at a lot of bad pitches... that's when your average starts to drop and you wind up fighting for playing time. You're most successful when you concentrate on the ball and make 'em throw strikes." Concentrate he did. Brock stroked 7 hits in 23 at-bats while cranking out 4 home runs, 11 RBIs and 9 runs scored. Brock is batting .322 this season in 41 games with 8 home runs, 28 RBIs and 31 runs scored. He has 49 hits in 152 at-bats. |
