July's #1 Hurler Announced: Clay Wednesday, August 1st, 2018 There's something about a young rookie winning the Alexander Cartwright League Pitcher of the Month trophy that sends shock waves through the league. Such is the case with Carl Clay, a 24-year-old starter for the Yorba Linda Mustangs. In July, he topped off the month with a 4-1 mark and 2.53 ERA in 6 starts, tossed 46.1 innings, fanned 32 and held opposing teams to a .184 average. This year Clay has recorded a 16-3 mark. In 22 starts he has fanned 106 batters in 153 innings with a 3.18 ERA. |
