League Suspends Newark LF Bowles Tuesday, May 22nd, 2018 The Newark Jail Birds were officially notified that left fielder Mike Bowles had been suspended for an altercation that occurred in yesterday's game with the Hellcats at Hellcats Park. After arguing a called third strike by the plate umpire, an enraged Bowles threw his batting helmet toward home after he reached the dugout. That action got him ejected and a 4-game suspension. "I threw the helmet and I shouldn't have. But I don't deserve the suspension. It was a bad call that started this whole mess." For the year Bowles is hitting .379 with 12 home runs. His stats include 43 runs batted in and 41 runs scored. |
