Wood Sizzles with 20-Game Batting Streak

Long hitting streaks don't happen very often and when they happen it perks up everybody's interest. No one knows how long it will go -- it could end tomorrow -- but baseball fans and Alden Wood are enjoying the moment right now. The 23-year-old Asheville right fielder extended his string to 20 consecutive games in McCormick Field today. Wood got 2 hits, but the New York Ninjas got the victory. They toppled the Tourists 6-2. Alden Wood singled in the 1st, struck out in the 4th, singled in the 6th and grounded out in the 8th.
So far this season Wood has put up a .322 batting average with 138 hits, 15 home runs and 78 RBIs.
