Wood Sizzles with 20-Game Batting Streak Wednesday, August 24th, 2016 Long hitting streaks don't happen very often and when they happen it perks up everybody's interest. No one knows how long it will go -- it could end tomorrow -- but baseball fans and Alden Wood are enjoying the moment right now. The 23-year-old Asheville right fielder extended his string to 20 consecutive games in McCormick Field today. Wood got 2 hits, but the New York Ninjas got the victory. They toppled the Tourists 6-2. Alden Wood singled in the 1st, struck out in the 4th, singled in the 6th and grounded out in the 8th. So far this season Wood has put up a .322 batting average with 138 hits, 15 home runs and 78 RBIs. |
