Wichita Starter July's Best Pitcher Monday, August 1st, 2016 Over the past month Jerry Pierce has turned quite a few heads. He's young, talented and able to pitch with the established arms in the Ford Frick League. He proved all that and now he's been named July's Pitcher of the Month. The rookie for the Wichita Wolverines posted 5-0 mark and a 2.80 ERA. In 6 starts he tossed 35.1 innings, permitted 16 hits and fanned 41 batters. So far this year Pierce has made 23 starts, tossed 133 innings, struck out 138 batters and walked 91. His record is 9-5 with a 3.59 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .199 batting average. |
