Long Island Beauregard Gets the Cycle
Saturday, July 2nd, 2016
"How sweet it is, when the good part of the bat makes contact with the baseball." That's how Lee Beauregard, the Long Island center fielder, described what happened in today's 9-2 victory over the Spokane Bulldogs -- hitting for the cycle. In baseball, a player hits for the cycle when he hits a single, a double, a triple and a home run in the same game, though not necessarily in that order. Collecting the hits in that exact order is known as a "natural cycle," something that almost never occurs.

"I heard that sound every time I hit the ball -- it really was a special game for me." It was a game good enough for him to make a little history. He bombed Spokane pitching for 4 hits in 5 at-bats and his name will now go into the record book. Beauregard also racked up 3 runs batted in and 2 runs scored in the game.

Lee Beauregard hit a two-run triple in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Rob Wall in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th, singled in the 6th and doubled in the 9th.

This year Beauregard has hit at a .239 pace and produced 25 RBIs, 4 home runs and scored 36 runs.
