Riverside's Relief Ace Top Pitcher in July

Any time a rookie makes a splash on the scene, it's got to be great for his career potential. Just ask Ray McClain, who put together a stellar month out of the pen. The Riverside Red Bulls reliever, 26, kept the opposition off balance all month as he held them to a .227 average and walked away with the Alexander Cartwright League Pitcher of the Month award for July.
McClain posted a 4-0 mark and a 2.55 ERA in no relief appearances. In 42.1 innings, he had no saves, 27 strikeouts, and 6 walks.
This season McClain has chalked up a 3.56 ERA while ringing up no saves with 12 wins and 4 losses. He has made no relief appearances, pitching 131.1 innings, giving up 125 hits, and holding opponents to a .249 batting average. McClain has also recorded 79 strikeouts and allowed 26 walks.
