Barnes Launches 3 HR for Phantoms
Wednesday, July 4th, 2018
Jonathan Barnes, first baseman for the Coronado Phantoms, had a whale of a game, rocketing three balls out of Phantoms Field against the El Paso Diablos today in their 11-1 victory.
After the game he said, "I got some good pitches to hit and I creamed them. The first was a big, fat fastball and the last two were hanging curves... all three were mistakes."
For the game Barnes was 3-4 with 5 RBIs and 3 runs scored.
Barnes added, "There's a fine line between hitting home runs and line drives. Today I found the home run stroke."
Jonathan Barnes hit a solo-shot off Jim Lyons in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Jim Lyons in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Ernie Peters in the 6th.
This year Barnes has collected a .319 batting average to date with 75 hits in 235 at-bats, 63 RBIs, 16 home runs and scored 50 times. He has played in 77 games.
