Freedom Verity Smacks 6 Hits Tuesday, May 15th, 2018 After the Philadelphia 14-10 loss to Bronx and his 6-hit day third baseman Ron Verity told reporters, "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school, or college ball. Two hits in a game is very good, three or four hits even better, five or more are out of sight ... and if it is in pro ball, it is really something special. It will get you in the record books, but you won't necessarily win the ballgame." The 23-year-old player got into the record book today with a spectacular 6 for 6 game against the Bronx Bombers. The skipper of the Freedom spoke glowingly of Verity, telling BNN writers, "His swing is getting there. We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Ron did that to perfection today. I just wish some more of our players swung the bat as good as him. We might have won the game." Ron Verity hit an RBI double in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and singled in the 9th. Verity is hitting .309 this season with 5 home runs, 24 RBIs and 25 runs scored. He has 50 hits in 162 at-bats. |
