Jacks Hitless Against Brooks
Thursday, August 2nd, 2018
The Cabo San Lucas Toreros were only hoping for a solid outing from Wilfred Brooks, instead the 33-year-old pitcher tossed a no-hitter against the Jacksonville Jacks. Using a brilliant mix of off-speed pitches and fastballs, Brooks kept the Jacksonville hitters off balance all game long in the 1-0 victory at Skellington Stadium. The Cabo San Lucas hurler fanned 9 and walked 1 in his record-making performance.
"I felt pretty good throughout the game," he said after his spectacular outing for the Toreros. "As I was going into the ninth inning, I was not nervous. I knew I had a chance to do something special."
That something special got his name in the league record books.
To date this year, Brooks shows a 12-8 record, 23 starts, 146.2 innings, 112 strikeouts and a 3.62 ERA.
