Streak Finally Over, Joyner Held Hitless
Tuesday, July 24th, 2018
Las Vegas center fielder Bruce Joyner came into today's game against the Cabo San Lucas Toreros on a hot streak. When it was over, the Toreros did their job very well. They beat the Las Vegas Jokers 5-2 and cooled him off at the same time. Cabo San Lucas stopped Joyner without a hit and his 22-game hitting streak came to an end.
The 25-year-old Joyner only had a few words to say after the game, "I had a chance to do it and I came up short."
His manager commented, "What Bruce did was exciting and quite an achievement. It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 22 games in a row. I'm really proud of him. And I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play."
Looking at his present stats, Joyner has compiled a .345 batting average in 62 games with a .396 on-base percentage, while hitting 10 home runs and driving in 33 runs.
