Capitalists Chill Johnson's Hot Streak
Thursday, July 20th, 2017
Oklahoma City third baseman Nick Johnson came into today's game against the Washington Capitalists on a hot streak. When it was over, the Capitalists did their job very well. They beat the Oklahoma City Prowlers 9-3 and cooled him off at the same time. Washington stopped Johnson without a hit and his 23-game hitting streak came to an end.

The 24-year-old Johnson only had a few words to say after the game, "I had a chance to do it and I came up short."

His manager commented, "What Nick did was exciting and quite an achievement. It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 23 games in a row. I'm really proud of him. And I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play."

For the season Johnson is batting .305 with 118 hits and 16 home runs. He has scored 68 times and batted in 45.
