3 Roundtrippers for Bergeron Friday, June 9th, 2017 Mike Bergeron of So Cal slugged three home runs against the San Francisco at Staples Field @ The Rose Bowl. Nevertheless, he couldn't win the game all by himself. The Earthquakes spoiled his record-setting day by defeating the Republic 7-6. His manager said afterward, "The loss puts a damper on his outstanding game, but Mike still will get his name in the league record book. That is some consolation. But knowing him, he would have preferred a win." Commenting on his explosive day, the So Cal left fielder said, "The first two I got all of them and it was no doubt they were gone. The last one I got lucky. It seemed like the wind helped it a little. Old Mother Nature helped me get into the record books. I wish she had helped us win the game, too." For the game Bergeron was 3 for 5 with 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored. Mike Bergeron hit a solo-shot off Vaughn Lewis in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Vaughn Lewis in the 3rd, grounded out in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off José Morán in the 7th and flied out in the 9th. So far this year Bergeron has hit .356 with 21 home runs, 55 RBIs and 55 runs scored. |
