Ortíz Raps Nottinghamshire for 5 Hits
Tuesday, September 20th, 2016
"Ever since I picked up my first bat my coaches were always saying to keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing... just make contact and ya never know what'll happen," Juan Carlos Ortíz told reporters after the game. "That's all I did today. I made contact and it turned out well."
It definitely turned out well for the South Bend left fielder today as he collected 5 hits in 5 at-bats against Nottinghamshire. But not so good for his team, as the Outlaws took the game at The Battlefield, whipping the Shamrocks 11-8.
Juan Carlos Ortíz hit a solo-shot off Paul Johnston in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit a two-run single in the 4th, walked in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
This season in 48 games Ortíz is batting .301 with 1 home run, 17 RBIs and has scored 26 times.
