Bad Boy Brawlers Suspended 7 Games
Tuesday, May 31st, 2016
There were a few hotheads at the So Cal-Montreal game at Staples Field @ The Rose Bowl yesterday, but the cooler heads prevailed and kept fisticuffs to a minimum. It all started when Ramón Guzmán of the Republic and Homer Turner of the Bandits apparently exchanged some verbal unpleasantries and rushed at one another and began wrestling on the ground. Both benches emptied, but didn't get involved other than a little shoving. Order was quickly restored, the two instigators were ejected by the umpires and the game continued.

The league office took quick action and today announced that both players would be suspended 7 games for inappropriate on-field behavior.

Guzmán has collected 49 hits for the Republic this year, 8 of them home runs. He has also netted 30 RBIs and scored 32 runs while batting .239.

Turner has compiled an ERA of 4.75 so far this season, winning 1 games with 3 losses and 1 save. In 28 relief appearances he has hurled 36 innings, yielded 40 hits and struck out 39. Opposing hitters have batted .286 against Turner.
