Order in the Court - Arbitration Hearings Arrive Saturday, November 21st, 2015 Few fans have enough diligence to know the ins and outs of the ABL's collective bargaining agreement. For the few players in the league that couldn't come to a new contract agreement with their team, these hearings can sometimes be the difference between making 80% and 100% of what they are asking for this year. For many fans, the arbitration process means that we are just getting one step closer to spring and the beginning of a new Adult Baseball League season. Commentators often seem to wonder what taking a player to arbitration to decide their worth does to the player's relationship with the team. One arbitration eligible player anonymously said, "Look, this is a business thing. I am doing what I can to make as much money as I can and the owner is doing the same. I don't take it personally." One wonders if that player will feel the same if he loses his arbitration decision. |
