Becker Sets New Single-Season Hit Record
Friday, October 3rd, 2014
Baseball has a new all-time single-season hit leader. In a game at Labatt Bleue Park Tom Becker broke the record set previously by Tim Shields. The crowd went wild when he banged out hit number 249. Asked by reporters, if it was tough to break the record, Becker replied, "Yeah, getting hits is tough, but there's no pressure build-up. I figured I would get this hit. This wasn't pressure. Pressure is the playoffs. Breaking this record was just fun... just another day at the ballpark."

Tom Becker walked in the 2nd and doubled in the 4th.

So far this year in 160 games Becker is hitting .385 with 50 home runs, 164 RBIs and 119 runs scored.
