Fighters Halt Manas's Hit Streak
Saturday, August 19th, 2017
Late in the game Lions shortstop Atamas Manas stepped into the batter box with his 21-game hitting streak on the line. Up to then he was without a hit. Sadly it just wasn't to be -- Manas did not get a hit -- and his streak was finally over. The Fighters had stopped him, not allowing him a hit in 3 at-bats. However, Saitama Seibu won the game 5-4.
"Winning the game took some of the disappointment out of it," Manas told reporters in the clubhouse. "Looking back on it, it was a great experience. Not too many players can say they had a hit in 21 straight games. It's something I will always remember."
Manas is hitting at a .382 mark this season. His stats show 8 home runs, 34 RBIs and 34 runs scored. He has played 35 games for the Lions.
