Big Bat Pays Off, Koike Player of the Week Monday, June 5th, 2017 25-year-old second baseman Akio Koike of the ORIX Buffaloes is the talk of the Pacific League for putting on a torrid hitting display last week and claiming the Player of the Week Award. Koike rapped out a sensational .563 batting average with 9 hits in 16 at-bats, 4 home runs and 12 RBIs. So far on the season Koike is hitting .295 with 15 home runs, 46 RBIs and 45 runs scored.
