Watanabe and Ozaki Suspended for Free-for-All
Wednesday, May 10th, 2017
Nobody was hurt in a confrontation yesterday between the Giants Arinori Watanabe and the Carp Toshikazu Ozaki as both benches cleared during the fracas at Ballpark of Yamagata College. It appeared that there were a few punches thrown before the players could be separated.
Today the league commissioner took action. The league decided to punish the guilty parties. Arinori Watanabe and Toshikazu Ozaki will each have to sit out 7-game suspensions for their roles in this fight.
For the year Watanabe is batting .154 with 10 hits and no home runs. He has scored 6 times and driven in 1.
This year Ozaki has no saves, totaled 18.1 innings, allowed 25 base hits and fashioned a 7.85 ERA while racking up 27 strikeouts and a record of no wins and no losses.
