Yomiuri Right Fielder Morimoto Will Retire Thursday, August 11th, 2016 Yomiuri right fielder Shoyo Morimoto won't be back next year. The 36-year-old announced plans today to retire at the end of the 2016 campaign, saying that it was time to call it a career. "I could probably play another year," Morimoto said, "but I don't have that fire you need to play well. And I'm not going out there on those terms. It's a disservice to the Giants and baseball in general. There are just too many aches and pains in this old body for me to continue playing." |
