PL Announces August's Best Starter Tuesday, September 1st, 2015 There's something about a young rookie winning the Pacific League Pitcher of the Month trophy that sends shock waves through the league. Such is the case with Takuji Taguchi, a 19-year-old starter for the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters. In August, he topped off the month with a 3-1 mark and 1.80 ERA in 6 starts, tossed 40 innings, fanned 57 and held opposing teams to a .172 average. So far this year Taguchi has compiled a 10-5 record with a 3.93 ERA. |
