5-6 Game for Takano
Tuesday, August 19th, 2014
5 hits in a game has always been a magic number in baseball. Only a handful of players will do that. Get 5 hits in a game and you get your moment of glory... your 5 minutes of fame... you get your name in the record book.
In the Fighters 22-6 win over Saitama Seibu, Mushanokoji Takano was red-hot today, scorching them for hit after hit at Ballpark of Hakui College.
"To hit the ball consistently well, you have to relax. I was relaxed for the first four hits, but I must admit, I got a little tight when I realized I had a chance for a 5-hit game. On the last at-bat, I was ready to swing at anything close."
On his big day Takano delivered 5 hits in 6 at-bats.
Mushanokoji Takano hit an RBI double in the 2nd, grounded out in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a two-run double in the 5th, hit an RBI triple in the 7th and singled in the 8th.
In his season totals, Takano has 5 home runs, .421 BA, .548 OBP, 50 RBIs and 49 runs scored. He has played in 64 games.
