Maxwell on Fire: 5-5 for Rice Sunday, March 19th, 2017 History in the making. That's what the fans at Red Wings Ballpark got to see today, when Rice outplayed the Wildcats 18-6. Woodrow Maxwell of the Owls came to the plate 5 times and came away with a dynamite day as he exploded for 5 hits against Arizona. In the postgame press conference the Arizona skipper quipped to reporters, "Hey, we tried to get him out. We threw everything but the kitchen sink against him and he hit it. Maybe we should've thrown the kitchen sink." Woodrow Maxwell singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Steve Orr in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Jack Rogers in the 6th, singled in the 7th, was hit by a pitch in the 8th and walked in the 9th. So far this season Maxwell is hitting .519 with 4 home runs, 9 RBIs and 9 runs scored. He has 14 hits in 27 at-bats and a .581 OBP. |
