River Chiefs Díaz, Cy Young Award Winner Friday, November 3rd, 2017 He's in the early phase of his career, but this past season Pedro Díaz performed like a veteran on the hill for the Chippewa River Chiefs and walked away with the Buck O'Neil League Cy Young Award in the process. The 23-year-old River Chiefs star fashioned a 16-4 won-loss record in 2017 with a 1.83 ERA. In 221.2 innings of work and 33 starts, Díaz struck out 217 while giving up 141 hits and 61 walks. He held opposing batters to a .177 average. |
